| American Legion Ladies Auxiliary |
We had our Annual Holiday party in January and it was a very
nice gathering. A big thank you to Bob Peczkowski for a
wonderful meal! All the ladies enjoyed.
It is the time of year to start thinking about our Americanism
Essay Contest, Scholarships, Girls State, and Poppies.
This year’s Essay Contest Subject is: What Does The First
Amendment Mean to Me? The contest is open to 7th through 12th graders. The essays are due
to the Unit by February 1st. We look forward to this year’s contestants.
January and February are busy times of the year for graduating seniors. It is time to apply for
scholarships! The American Legion Auxiliary offers several scholarships with deadlines
coming up March 1st. If you know a High School Senior that is in need of financial aid for
college, please have them contact their school counselor who should have the information for
the Auxiliary scholarships. The Auxiliary Unit 703 also sponsors a local scholarship each year.
Poppy Days is still several months away but it is never too early to think of our Veteran’s.
Besides proudly wearing our poppies, we have lots of different ways to be to celebrate the
poppy. There is the Poppy Poster contest for local students and different Poppy Contests for
both the Juniors and Seniors (Holiday Arrangement, Poppy Hat, Poppy Corsage and Poppy
Poem amongst others). It is a lot of fun to see all the creativity. Please let us know if you are
interested in participating or know someone that might be.
Stay warm through these next couple of months, Spring will be here before we know it!
