INDEPENDANCE DAY

Posted in Uncategorized by Administrator on the July 5th, 2009

Hello Riders,
I apologize for leaving the blog blank for so long. I have been so overwhelmed since April I cannot honestly tell you what has happened ove the past 2 1/2 months. Never mind, today was a great day for us. We got together and rode in the Fox Lake Independance Day parade. The weather was absolutely perfect. The bikes still got hot but did not become virtual two wheeled ovens. What a great day!

This has got to be the busiest month for us as a group and a Post this year. Parade today, Save-A-Vet ride and convention next week, Boat Poker Run on 19 July and the Post Dinner Cruise on 31 July. I have no idea when my lawn will get mowed!

Friends, family, brothers, sisters and fellow riders, we need to kick into high gear to raise funds for this years American Legion Legacy Run. Jim Solberg will make the 3000 mile ride to turn in our check to national in August. We need to ensure these kids that have lost a parent in service are given a chance to get a college education. This is the best way we can do service for the veterans family when the veteran cannot. Get out and see if you can find even a few dollars for this cause. Just so you know, last Friday we raised hundreds through a meat raffle at the Fox Lake Post. Commander Kane really kicked in and got the patrons to dig deep and help out. I can truely say, there were no losers that night!!! All donations can be dropped off at the Fox LAke LEgion Post or mailed to us at

Director Thoughts

I asked our web master to set up a blog for me because there are times I just want to write something for our members. As I get older I have a tendancy to forget what I wanted to say by the time the news letter comes around. Besides, what good is it to have a great web site if we don’t use it to it’s full potential?

The reason I thought of having a blog was that after our welcome home ride for Chris on Saturday I let my mind wander a bit. I covered issues like Chris’s home coming, our three Illinois comrades lost over the past month etc… With all that thinking I began to realize all of the community involvement the people we had with us on Saturday have. Since we were all together we began to share upcoming events and things we would all need help with from other groups. What a great bunch of people we have the priveledge to be associated with.

Well, thanks to everyone that was involved and to those who sent their thoughts even if they could not attend. Keep an eye on the blog and the web page for good info, my ramblings and upcoming events.

Stay safe while you ride!

Mark
